Michael Schmitt has more than 14 years of professional experience in leadership, business analytics, and process improvement.
Prior to coming to UW–Madison, Michael worked at SSM Health where he coached leaders throughout the organization on how to deliver better care to the community through various workforce initiatives. He also served as clinic manager for the neurosurgery and pain management services lines. Before SSM Health, Michael worked at SwedishAmerican Health (now UW Health) as a process improvement specialist; in that role, he helped map processes, facilitated improvement events, and created a curriculum for a lean management system to enhance organizational effectiveness.
Michael holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Augustana College, an MBA from Western Governors University, and a Lean Six Sigma certification from Villanova University.
