Kathy Contezac has over 20 years of experience as a communications and marketing leader in both the public and private sectors. She has extensive experience developing communications plans and strategies involving diverse stakeholder groups and focused on advancing leadership priorities while facilitating change management. Her experience also includes brand development, event promotion, web design, web content management, and policy development.
Prior to coming to UW–Madison, Kathy served as communications section chief at the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, where she led a staff of five in communications planning and development in support of the Wisconsin Medicaid Program, the FoodShare Program, and other public benefit programs. There, she developed an understanding of the principles and necessity of plain language and honed her skill for translating complex concepts into clear, understandable language. Earlier in her career, she led the marketing and communications function for a division of CUNA & Affiliates, served as a publications writer for HP Enterprise Services, and developed employee training and communications for VEREX Corporation.
Kathy holds a bachelor’s degree in English from UW–Madison.
