UW–Madison Libraries Part of Policy Library Solution

Provost Karl Scholz and Vice Chancellor for Legal Affairs Ray Taffora, executive sponsors of the Policy Library Project, have approved a technical solution for the policy library that leverages existing campus strengths and resources. The UW–Madison Libraries will provide the front-end user interface and search functionality, while a third-party vendor will provide the policy management tool. This solution was recommended by the Policy Library Technical Team and endorsed by the project team and steering committee.

The Policy Library Project is focused on developing a searchable, online library to make it easier to find university-wide policies at UW–Madison. The project is being managed by the Office of Strategic Consulting.

As implementation of the technical solution begins, the project team continues to prepare policies to make them “library-ready.” In addition, theWorking Group to Draft Guidelines on Policy Development has officially launched. This group, which has broad representation across campus, will focus on helping to establish a framework for strong policy management, creating a draft document that outlines guidelines for policy development for university-wide policies, and setting parameters for developing university-wide policies consistent with UW–Madison’s culture and practices.

The Policy Library Project is on track to be completed during the fall semester.
